Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What happens during a local consult?

I will invite you and your child to my office in Catonsville. We will go over medical history and sign consent forms.  We will make decisions about the best tools to use during the appointment.

*Would your child be comfortable on my therapy table, a chair or on my extra thick yoga mat which is on the floor?

*Would they enjoy classical, instrumental or meditation music?

*Should we use the light show, constellation lights or dim lights?

*Does your child enjoy no touch, light touch or hugs/pressure?

*Would you like to incorporate aromotherapy or crystals?

Then we will go into the treatment room for the first session. The first session can be between 15-30 minutes long. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t “lay or sit still”. The energy will still flow to where it is needed. You can also bring your child’s favorite toy to make them more comfortable.

What happens during a distance consult?

I will invite you to a phone or a video chat. We will go over medical history and consent forms that I emailed to you previously.  We will make decisions about the best time for me to send the distant Reiki and if you would like for me to use crysals

Some parents/caregivers prefer to have the session while their child is asleep. That way their bodies are still and at rest. The first session can be between 15-30 minutes long.

Do I have to attend every session with my child?

Once we have our initial consult any adult, caregiver or aid can bring your child in for their appointment.  I have a comfortable waiting area.

My child isn't diagnosed with Autism...My Child has ADD/OCD or behavioral concerns...

Absolutely. Reiki is not a cure but can help reduce symptopns over a period of time.

Can I learn Reiki so I can assist my child at home?

Yes, I teach Reiki 1 classes to parents, family members, caregivers and aides both locally and online.  Please contact me for class info.

I'm an adult with Autism or my child is an adult. Will Reiki work?

Yes. My child is an adult on the Spectrum. He benefits from regular Reiki treatments.
